There’s been many people studying this topic and I often hear them say something along the lines of, “I don’t have a stake in my findings either way.” A good faith understanding is that they are trying to show a lack of bias, but i find it frustrating. It’s a privilege not to have a stake in the outcome of the findings in regards to this topic; for many of us that is not the case.
Thank you, Sara, for your kind words. I agree, I understand the "heart" behind a statement, and yet, I find it does not give weight to those who have to live in these places. I wonder how many who make such claims tend to be men? I do not want to cast aspersions, of course, but like you said, it is a privilege not to have a stake in something.
